DOROTHY L. HILL
Industry Bio

Ms. Hill is a life-long jazz enthusiast and has numerous times over the past two decades, been recognized by musicians and industry professionals as being one of the foremost authorities in the Bay Area jazz and blues world.  She is also a respected music journalist and widely published jazz & blues photographer.

Ms. Hill regularly reviewed CDs and penned a monthly column, "Blues & Boogie," from 1997 to 2006 (the publication has ceased but maintains an on-line archive).   Ms. Hill is the West Coast Editor for www.bluessource.com and contributing writer and photographer for the European on-line publications, www.bluesart.biz and www.bobtjeblues.com.  Her writings have been quoted in official programs such as the San Francisco Blues Festival, article in the 2009 Blues Festival Guide, in major record-label promotional material, and in advertisements for Blues Express & Burnside Records, both prominent recording companies.  Her photographs have appeared in several international music magazines, including the most respected blues publication in the world, "Living Blues Magazine."  Her photographs also appear on the web sites of numerous blues musicians. 

Ms. Hill is an active member and advisor to the Golden Gate Blues Society and was actively involved in the Sunday Blues & Jazz Club in San Francisco for fourteen years.  In 1986, she received an Award of Merit from both the Bright Moments Music Lovers Club and Gallery 552, two organizations devoted to jazz.  She served as a judge for the "Invitational Musicians Showcase" held at Club Jazz Nouveau in San Francisco.  Most recently, Ms. Hill was named as Blues Journalist of 2006 by the West Coast Blues Hall of Fame presented by the Bay Area Blues Society and the City of Oakland.
